Children’s Medical Center Dallas re-designated as a Level I Trauma Center

We are excited to announce that the Texas Department of State Health Services has re-designated Children’s Medical Center Dallas as a Comprehensive (Level I) Trauma Facility in Trauma Service Area-E, which comprises of 19 counties within North Texas.

This designation means our hospital is capable of highly specialized treatment for the most critical injuries. Our trauma team treats severely injured patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and serves as a critical resource for nearby communities.

In Feb. 2005, Children’s Medical Center Dallas was designated as the first free-standing pediatric hospital in Texas with a designated Level I Trauma Center. We are proud to serve the children of North Texas at this level within the state trauma system.

“Your hospital is to be commended for its ongoing commitment to ensure quality care is available for trauma patients in its area.” – John Hellerstedt, M.D., Commissioner, Texas Health and Human Services.

During the survey for re-designation, the lead surgeon surveyor said that it was the best survey he had ever done in his nearly 30 years of doing trauma surveys.

We are grateful for our Trauma Center and team members to be able to serve the children in our region for any possible case and continuing to carry out our mission to make life better for children.

Take a moment to congratulate the Trauma Program and everyone in our Trauma Center on this impressive accomplishment.
