2015 Christmas is for Children Radiothon Raises More Than $1 Million for Children’s Health

The 2015 Christmas is for Children Radiothon, which supports Children’s Health, raised more than $1 million for the seventh-largest pediatric hospital in the nation.

The annual event, held Dec. 10-11, raised a total of $1,003,236. One hundred percent of the funds raised over the two-day period support programs at Children’s Health. In partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, CBS Radio DFW broadcast live from the hospital on 98.7 KLUV, La GRANDE 107.5 FM and NewsRadio 1080 KRLD. This year, 22 patients and families shared their heartwarming stories via pre-recorded interviews or live appearances with on-air personalities from all three stations.

“The incredible patients and families we serve along with the continued generosity of the Dallas-Fort Worth community never cease to amaze us,” said Christopher J. Durovich, president and CEO of Children’s Health. “CBS Radio DFW is one of the strongest supporters in our quest to be by the side of parents across North Texas. We are grateful for their commitment and the community as a whole as we continue to live out our mission of making life better for children.”

Brian Purdy, senior vice president and market manager for CBS Radio DFW, said, “Even after all these years of working with the amazing team at Children’s Health on this incredible effort, we continue to be overwhelmed by the response of our listeners. They open their hearts and their wallets with one purpose: To help the next generation of North Texans live life to the fullest. We can’t imagine a better gift.”

The Christmas is for Children Radiothon was made possible by the generous support of local sponsors, including FairLease (presenting sponsor), Credit Union of Texas (phone line sponsor), Neighborhood Credit Union, Learning Care Group, Padrino Foods, Skanska, ReTrak, Dallas Fort Worth Acura Dealers, Primrose Schools, Granite Properties, Blue Cross Blue Shield, ADT Security and El Rio Grande Latin Market.

“Generous support from our corporate sponsors and community friends make the success of this year’s event possible,” said Dr. Kern Wildenthal, president of Children’s Medical Center Foundation. “We also salute the dedicated team of professionals at CBS Radio for their continued support and passion, highlighted by the extraordinary Jody Dean, whose desire to help children included devoting a remarkable 26 hours to hosting the event on air.”
